Empowering Change through Compassionate Therapy

Julie Corona-McLean is a seasoned therapist with a mission to create safe spaces that foster transformative journeys of self-discovery. As a woman of colour, a child of immigrants, and proud of her Peruvian heritage, Julie offers a unique blend of life experiences and professional expertise, making her a beacon of support and empowerment.

With over a decade of experience, Julie's diverse background includes five years in corrections, specializing in youth corrections, chaplaincy within maximum and open custody facilities. Her time in these challenging environments shaped her perspective on resilience and healing.

Relocating to British Columbia in 2020, Julie intimately understands the process of leaving behind a life, allowing her to empathize deeply with those who've immigrated, emigrated, or faced separation from loved ones. Her personal journey enables her to connect profoundly with clients, guiding them through complex transitions.

Julie's therapeutic approach centres on trust and safety

She helps clients reconnect with their core selves, emphasizing the body-mind connection and emotional processing for healing and growth.

With an MA in Counseling Psychology, Julie employs a Trauma-Informed and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) approach, serving clients from diverse backgrounds, ranging from teenagers to seniors. She has extensive experience, including five years working with incarcerated youth and their families, two years supporting women escaping domestic violence, and two years counseling young adults in post-secondary institutions.

“The roots of resilience... are to be found in the sense of being understood by and existing in the mind and heart of a loving, attuned, and self-possessed other.”
